A Friend of Mine

2021 Season

Our friendships open our eyes, minds and hearts to the world around us. We discover points of view that vary from our experiences and challenge our belief systems through storytelling: “There's a friend of mine who…”, “Well, I used to think that until a friend of mine told me about…”.

In 2021, Dreambox Collective explores transformations that take place in the self when we are seen, accepted, believed, respected and trusted by our peers. Sometimes, a single friend can make all the difference. Between loneliness and belonging, there exist the vast complexities and challenges of our relationships with others. Within the collective, our friendships are constantly being renewed as we grow individually and create together. This growth is in large part thanks to you - our audience - who have engaged with us on our journey over the past year.

We hope you'll join us, as friends of ours, to explore the worlds of intersectional feminism, neurodiversity and access to education in our 2021 concert series!

A Space of One's Own

Saturday 10 April 2021

Matinee (3:00-4:30pm) | Evening (7:00-8:30pm)

A Saturday afternoon of music, art and learning, in partnership with the Lillian Howell Project, a young women’s refuge.

"A Space of One’s Own" is a creative exploration of our relationship to home, and what it means to build a safer, more supportive environment in our own lives, as well as for others around us. It’s an acknowledgment of the various factors that impact women’s lives and how communities come together to create an environment where all women can thrive. In March, our Dreambox members visited the Lillian Howell Project and were absolutely in awe of the work they do in the education, care and support they provide to young women in Sydney. We are extremely grateful to have had the chance to learn about their work in depth.
